Movie theater ticketing software for US cinemas

The best movie theater ticketing software for most US cinemas is Filmgrail on top of the POS you already run. Keep Veezi, AgileTix, RTS, Omniterm, POSitive or Vista at the counter, and let Filmgrail run your branded website, native iOS and Android apps and online checkout, for a flat price per screen with no per-ticket fees.

Cinema software in the United States: what theaters run today

In our September crawl of 507 US cinema websites, these were the booking systems they linked to most, alongside the other systems American theaters run.

Crawl: US cinema websites linking to each system's booking domain, 24 September 2026; a circuit counts once. Counter systems such as RTS and Omniterm usually host booking on the theater's own domain, which our crawl cannot attribute. Vendor facts checked on each vendor's own website on 26 September 2026. Vendors change their products; confirm anything decision-critical with them directly.

What that means for an American theater

US independents usually end up in one of three places: a POS vendor's bundled website, an all-in-one system like Filmbot that charges per ticket, or a marketing bundle such as Boxoffice Company's Boost. Across our whole crawl, 8% of cinema sites sent buyers only to a marketplace such as Fandango, Ticketmaster or movietickets.com, handing the customer relationship to someone else.

Filmgrail is the fourth option: a moviegoer platform you own, running on the POS you keep. We read films, showtimes, seat maps and prices from Veezi, AgileTix, RTS, Omniterm, POSitive or Vista and write each sale back, so the concession stand and your reports stay exactly as they are. Compare for yourself: Filmgrail vs The Boxoffice Company, Filmgrail vs Filmbot, Veezi alternatives, AgileTix alternatives, RTS alternatives and Omniterm alternatives.

Why US cinemas choose Filmgrail

American moviegoers have AMC, Regal and Cinemark apps on their phones. Filmgrail gives an independent theater or a regional circuit the same kind of app and website, without the enterprise price.

Your brand, not a shared booking page

Your own website on your own domain, with a proper page for every film, your seasons and events, and a checkout in your colours. Not a generic ticketing page that looks the same for every venue on the system.

Native iOS and Android apps included

Your cinema on the moviegoer's home screen, running on the same CMS as the website, with push when a saved film goes on sale. Most cinemas have no app at all; in our crawl only 7% of cinema websites linked to one.

Flat price, no per-ticket fees

From $200 to $20,000 a year, flat per screen. Our price does not rise with your attendance, so a sold-out weekend costs you nothing extra.

Your box office stays

Filmgrail reads films, sessions, seats and prices from the box office you already run and writes each sale back. No counter migration, no retraining, no change to your reporting.

Live in weeks

A few weeks when we already integrate your box office and payment provider; about a month when we connect a new one.

Loyalty, push and Insights built in

Member pricing, push campaigns and audience analytics in the same customer record as the sale, plus a planning tool for your programme and a festival platform if you run one.

The US market: bigger chains, more loyal audiences

US and Canada box office was $8.66bn in 2025, and Cinema United says it represents 31,000 screens across the two countries (see our cinema industry statistics). The competition is concentrated: AMC Entertainment runs 9,530 screens worldwide and Cinemark 5,620, with Marcus Theatres at 985 and B&B Theatres at 564 (see the largest cinema chains).

The number that matters most for an independent is this one: loyalty subscriptions in North America rose 15% between 2024 and 2025, according to Cinema United. Regulars want a membership, an app and a reason to come back on a Tuesday. That is exactly what Filmgrail's loyalty, push and Insights are for.

American buyers expect cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout, and gift cards at the holidays. We integrate your payment provider rather than forcing ours on you.

Proof: a US circuit on Filmgrail

Classic Cinemas runs around sixteen theaters in the Chicago area on Filmgrail: restored historic houses such as the Tivoli, the Paramount, the Lake, the York and the Lindo alongside modern recliner multiplexes, with website, online ticketing and CMS on one platform, and circuit-wide features such as the Classic Rewards loyalty programme presented consistently across every theater. It is the answer to anyone who thinks a platform built in Norway cannot serve American moviegoers.

The same platform runs Wallis Cinemas in Australia and Ster-Kinekor in South Africa.

Film festivals in the US

Many American festivals sell on Eventive, whose platform is free but charges 5% + $0.99 per paid ticket. Filmgrail's festival platform is a flat fee instead, about $5,000 a year for a mid-size festival, with a festival website, branded apps, passes, sections and industry accreditation. See Filmgrail vs Eventive.

Where US exhibitors meet

Cinema United runs CinemaCon in Las Vegas and a Fall Summit; independents gather at Art House Convergence. We list 33 cinema industry events in the United States, from regional theater owner conventions to drive-in meetings.

$200–$20,000
a year, flat per screen

Published pricing in US dollars, from a single screen to a large circuit.

$0
per-ticket fees

We never take a cut of your tickets. Every online sale costs the same as the last.

Weeks
to go live

A few weeks if we already integrate your box office and payment provider; about a month for a new one.

~$5,000
a year for a mid-size festival

The same flat logic for festivals: website, apps, passes and ticketing, no per-ticket fee.

Pricing and setup

Pricing is published and flat: from $200 a year for a single screen to $20,000 a year for a large circuit, per screen, with no per-ticket fees (see pricing). A mid-size film festival pays about $5,000 a year. If we already integrate your box office and payment provider you can be live in a few weeks; a provider we have not connected before takes about a month.

See your own cinema on it before you talk to anyone: the free cinema website prototype builds a version of your site from its current address. Then book a demo against your real programme.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

What is the best movie theater software in the United States?

For what your moviegoers see, Filmgrail. Keep the POS you already run, whether Veezi, AgileTix, RTS, Omniterm, POSitive or Vista, and put Filmgrail's branded website, native iOS and Android apps and checkout on top, for a flat price per screen with no per-ticket fees. Classic Cinemas runs around sixteen Chicago-area theaters on it.

Does Filmgrail work with Veezi?

Yes. Veezi is the most common box office among US independents in our crawl, and Filmgrail is integrated with it. We read films, sessions, seats and prices from Veezi and write each sale back, replacing only the web sales page.

Does Filmgrail work with RTS, AgileTix and Omniterm?

Yes. Filmgrail integrates with RTS, Omniterm and POSitive, as well as Veezi and Vista, with Agile Ticketing Solutions available on demand. With an existing integration you can be live in a few weeks.

Does Filmgrail charge per ticket?

No. Filmgrail costs $200 to $20,000 a year, flat per screen, whatever you sell. By comparison, Filmbot publishes a $1 fee per ticket sold online and Eventive 5% + $0.99 per paid ticket.

Can I still sell through Fandango?

Marketplaces such as Fandango are a separate channel, and many theaters keep them. What Filmgrail adds is your own channel: a website and app where the customer, the data and the loyalty relationship stay with you rather than with the marketplace.
