Cinema ticketing software for Belgian cinemas

The best cinema ticketing software for an independent Belgian cinema is Filmgrail on top of the box office you already run: one branded website and native iOS and Android app in Dutch, French and English, with your own checkout, at a flat price per screen and no per-ticket fees. It is how a single town cinema competes with Kinepolis on the phone.

Cinema software in Belgium: what cinemas run today

Belgium is home to Kinepolis, one of Europe's largest circuits, and a varied independent sector that often buys ticketing built for culture in general. Our crawl reached only six active Belgian cinema sites; the one system we identified was Admit One.

What that means for a Belgian cinema

Kinepolis is Belgian, and it sells through its own channels. Many independents and cultural centres sell film through ticketing built for every kind of cultural event. Filmgrail gives a cinema a website and app built only for cinema: a proper page for every film, session times up front, seat selection and a checkout in your brand.

Belgium adds a language problem most booking pages ignore. Filmgrail's platform is multilingual, so one CMS serves Dutch, French and English with a language switch. If you run Admit One the integration already exists; see Admit One alternatives and the Admit One integration.

Proof: who runs on Filmgrail

We will be straight with you: we do not yet have a Belgian cinema live. The closest comparables compete with national circuits the way Belgian independents compete with Kinepolis. In Norway, Bergen Kino (18 halls) and Trondheim Kino (19 halls) run websites, native apps and ticketing on Filmgrail; Vega Scene and Rådhus-Teatret sell film alongside stage, as many Belgian cultural centres do. In South Africa, Ster-Kinekor runs more than thirty complexes on the same platform.

For festivals, BIFF runs on our festival platform. The first Belgian cinemas get our full attention during setup.

Why Belgian cinemas choose Filmgrail

Belgian audiences book on their phones, in two languages, and the circuits set their expectations. Filmgrail gives an independent, a cultural centre or a regional group the same front door.

Your brand, not a shared booking page

Your own website on your own domain, with a proper page for every film, your events and series, and a checkout in your colours. Not a portal or widget that looks the same for every cinema on it, and that can show your customer the cinema down the road.

Native iOS and Android apps included

Your cinema on the moviegoer's home screen, running on the same CMS as the website, with push when a saved film goes on sale. Most cinemas have no app at all; in our crawl of 1,189 cinema websites only 7% linked to one.

Flat price, no per-ticket fees

From $200 to $20,000 a year, flat per screen. Our price does not rise with your attendance, so a sold-out weekend costs you nothing extra.

Your box office stays

Filmgrail reads films, sessions, seats and prices from the box office you already run and writes each sale back. No counter migration, no retraining, no change to your reporting.

Live in weeks

A few weeks when we already integrate your box office and payment provider; about a month when we connect a new one.

Local payments, loyalty and Insights

Belgian moviegoers expect Bancontact and Payconiq, plus cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We integrate your payment provider rather than forcing ours on you. Member pricing, push and audience analytics sit in the same customer record as the sale.

The Belgian market

Belgian cinemas sold 14.7 million admissions in 2024 for €142.7 million in box office excluding VAT, across 83 cinema businesses with 98,526 seats, according to Statbel. Flanders accounted for 42.8% of admissions, Wallonia 38.5% and Brussels 18.7%, so almost any cinema with ambitions beyond one region needs to sell in two languages.

Brussels is also where European exhibition meets: UNIC, the International Union of Cinemas, is based there and runs UNIC Cinema Days; its CEO Laura Houlgatte is in our who's who. Belgian exhibitors meet at the Belgian Film Sector Day, organised by Film Matters and the Fédération des Cinémas de Belgique; see cinema industry events.

$200–$20,000
a year, flat per screen

Published pricing in US dollars, from a single screen to a large circuit.

$0
per-ticket fees

We never take a cut of your tickets. Every online sale costs the same as the last.

Weeks
to go live

A few weeks if we already integrate your box office and payment provider; about a month for a new one.

~$5,000
a year for a mid-size festival

The same flat logic for festivals: website, apps, passes and ticketing, no per-ticket fee.

Pricing and setup

Pricing is published and flat: from $200 a year for a single screen to $20,000 a year for a large circuit, per screen, with no per-ticket fees (see pricing). A mid-size film festival pays about $5,000 a year. If we already integrate your box office and payment provider you can be live in a few weeks; a provider we have not connected before takes about a month.

See your own cinema on it before you talk to anyone: the free cinema website prototype builds a version of your site from its current address. Then book a demo against your real programme.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

For an independent cinema, Filmgrail. It gives you a multilingual branded website, native iOS and Android apps and your own checkout on top of the box office you already run, at a flat price per screen with no per-ticket fees.
