Trondheim Kino sells three named auditorium concepts — EPIQ, MAGIQ and BOUTIQ — plus a D-BOX hall at Prinsen and a bar attached to the BOUTIQ auditorium at Nova. That is a merchandising problem before it is a technical one: the customer has to understand what they are choosing, and the price difference has to feel earned rather than arbitrary.

It is also an argument for owning the booking journey rather than renting it. A marketplace listing flattens every auditorium into a row of times. A site and app built around the concepts can sell the difference, which is where the premium actually gets captured.

The company is wholly owned by Trondheim municipality and has operated since 1918, which shapes the rest of the programme too: a public-service obligation alongside the commercial slate, and an environmental certification the organisation reports against.
