DCP name validator

The convention comes from the ISDCF and every field is positional, separated by underscores. This tool splits the name, identifies each field by its pattern rather than purely by position — because smaller originators drop fields and reorder them — and tells you what each one means.

The warnings are the useful part. An IOP marker means an Interop package, which cannot carry closed captions and cannot run at 25 or 30fps. A VF means a Version File that will not play at all unless its Original Version is already ingested. A missing ratio field means nobody can tell from the name whether your masking needs to move. A rating of TD means pre-release or festival.

None of it is a substitute for a validator that opens the package and checks the assets against the PKL hashes. It is a thirty-second check you can do on a name in an email, before the drive arrives.

Two packages can carry the same title, the same date and the same studio and still be different compositions. The folder name is a convention rather than a validated requirement, and nothing enforces it.

The only reliable identifier for a version is the CPL UUID, which is also what a distributor's key system keys on. If a KDM will not open a package that looks correct by name, the usual cause is that the key was cut against a different UUID than the one you ingested — and no amount of re-reading the folder name will show you that.
