Free 'coming soon' movie widget for cinema websites
Pick your country, copy two lines of code and paste them into your website. Visitors see the next films opening in cinemas in your country, with the local release date and a small poster. It takes on your site's font, follows the visitor's light or dark mode and needs no account.
Your widget
Works on any site that accepts HTML: WordPress (a Custom HTML block), Wix (Embed code), Squarespace (Code block) or a hand-built page. It picks up your site's font, and when we update the release calendar every site carrying the widget updates with it.
Live preview
The credit link under the list is part of the code you paste, so it is there even before the script loads. Please keep it: it is what keeps the widget free.
The generator runs in your browser. Once the widget is on your site, each visitor's browser loads the script and a small data file from filmgrail.com. The widget sets no cookies and does no tracking.
What the widget shows
The next five to twelve theatrical releases in the country you choose, soonest first, with the national release date and the poster. Films whose date has passed drop off on their own, so the list never shows last month's openings. Re-releases are marked. The dates come from the same data as our film release calendar, where you can see the full six months for each country with running times and certificates.
It is a national list, not your programme: it shows what is opening in the country, whether or not you have booked it. Use it as a 'coming soon to cinemas' panel next to your own listings, on a news page or in a blog sidebar.
How to add it to your website
- Choose the country, how many films to show, the colours and whether to show posters.
- Copy the code. It is one
<div>and one<script>tag. - Paste it where the list should appear. In WordPress, add a Custom HTML block. In Wix, use Embed code. In Squarespace, use a Code block. On a hand-built site, paste it into the page HTML.
The script is under 8 KB, has no dependencies and draws the list inside its own shadow DOM, so your site's styles do not break it and it does not break them. If the script cannot load, visitors still see the plain text link.
Options
| Attribute | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| data-country | Which country's releases to show, as in the calendar address (norway, united-kingdom, germany …) | Required |
| data-limit | How many films to list, up to 20 | 8 |

The generator above sets the first three for you. You can add the others to the <div> by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Is the coming soon widget really free?
Yes. There is no account, no fee and no limit on page views. The only thing we ask is that you keep the small credit link under the list.
Where does the release data come from?
From TMDB, the same source as our film release calendar. The dates are national theatrical release dates. They can change, so confirm bookings with the distributor.
Will it slow down my website?
No. The script is under 8 KB, loads asynchronously and fetches one small data file. The posters are 92 pixels wide and load lazily.
Can I show my own showtimes in it?
No. This widget lists national releases only. Your own programme with showtimes and booking is what the Filmgrail website and app do.
Which countries are available?
Every country in our release calendar: the Nordics, the UK and Ireland, most of western and central Europe, the United States and Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore and the Gulf.
