Cinema digital ROI calculator
Cinema software is one of the few operating costs that is supposed to increase revenue, so the only sensible test is whether the revenue it moves clears what it costs. Put in your own admissions and your own assumptions, and find out.

What you expect to move
Three-year picture
Additional revenue after platform cost, over three years.

The uplift figures are your assumptions, not our promises. Set them to numbers you would defend in a board paper, then check whether the result still clears the cost. If it only works at optimistic inputs, that is the finding.
Everything here runs in your own browser. No values are sent to us, nothing is stored, and there is no sign-up.
How the calculation works
Three separate effects, kept separate so you can disagree with each one independently.
Checkout completion. A share of the people who start a booking do not finish it. Improving that percentage applies only to your online admissions, and is multiplied by ticket yield.
Repeat visits. Identified moviegoers who receive relevant push and email come more often. That effect applies across your whole base and carries concession spend with it, so it is multiplied by ticket yield plus concession spend.
Concession attach. Pre-order and loyalty raise attach rate, but only where the transaction is digital, so it applies to online share and to concession profit.
Online share is averaged across the three years rather than taken at the end point, because the shift happens gradually and using the final figure overstates the result.
How to use it without fooling yourself
- Use net yield, not ticket price. Take out VAT and anything you pass through. Gross price inflates every line in the model.
- Put implementation into the annual cost. Spread the one-off charge across three years and include it. A model that ignores setup cost is not a model.
- Set uplifts you would defend out loud. If you would not put the number in a board paper, do not put it here. The default values are deliberately modest.
- Run it twice. Once at numbers you believe and once at half of them. If the pessimistic run still clears the cost, the decision is easy. If only the optimistic run works, that is your answer.
- Ignore the headline and look at the mix. If the whole result comes from one assumption, the project is a bet on that one thing rather than on the platform.
What the calculator deliberately leaves out
Staff time during implementation, the internal cost of running content afterwards, and any revenue from selling gift cards or merchandise online. The first two make the case worse and the third makes it better, and all three vary too much between cinemas to model honestly.
It also does not attempt to value the thing exhibitors most often say they want, which is knowing who their audience is. That has real commercial worth and no defensible formula, so it is left out rather than fudged.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a realistic checkout completion uplift?
It depends entirely on how bad the current checkout is. A cinema selling through a ticketing vendor's generic web module on a different domain has far more to gain than one already running a well-tuned flow. Audit your current checkout before assuming a number.
Should I include concession revenue?
Include concession profit rather than concession spend, and only where the digital channel plausibly affects it, which means pre-order and loyalty rather than the counter queue.
Why does the model average online share across three years?
Because the shift is gradual. Applying the year-three figure to all three years overstates the benefit by a wide margin, which is exactly the trick that makes vendor ROI models untrustworthy.
Is any of this sent to Filmgrail?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, there is no form and nothing is stored or transmitted.
What if the answer is negative?
Then do not buy it, from us or from anyone. A negative result at honest assumptions is a useful outcome and the reason this tool has no email wall.
