A different market, not a smaller one

Asia-Pacific is where most of the last decade's screen growth happened, and the operating assumptions differ enough from Europe and North America that the sessions are genuinely not interchangeable.

Local-language production is dominant in several of the largest markets rather than supplementary to Hollywood. Mobile-first ticketing arrived earlier and went further — in parts of the region, an app is not a channel but the channel. Premium large format penetration is high. And the circuits at the top end are operating at a scale that does not exist elsewhere.

Unlike CinemaCon and CineEurope, which have settled venues, CineAsia moves between host cities, so the location is worth checking each year rather than assuming.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

When and where is CineAsia 2026?

7–10 December 2026 in Seoul. The event moves between host cities, so confirm with the organiser each year.

Who runs CineAsia?

The Film Expo Group, which also produces CineEurope and CineLATAM.

Is CineAsia relevant to a European or American exhibitor?

Mainly if you are sourcing technology or tracking where the market is going. Several operational practices now standard elsewhere — app-first ticketing in particular — were normal in this region first.
