AIRSCREEN builds screens that hold their shape through air pressure rather than rigging: an inflatable PVC frame carries the projection surface, kept rigid by a continuously running low-noise fan. The design is the reason a full-size outdoor screen can be put up by a small crew and taken down the same night.

The range runs from around eight feet wide up to well over 130 feet, and the company has held the record for the largest inflatable cinema screen. Screens are manufactured in Germany and sold through a rental and service partner network the company says reaches more than 135 countries.

For a cinema operator the relevance is seasonal and event programming rather than the main auditorium — summer outdoor seasons, drive-ins, festival venues and civic events. It is a way to programme at a site you do not own, which is a genuinely different commercial position from filling your own screens.
