French Convention (Le Film Français)

The French Convention is run by the trade weekly Le Film Français and has been held every year since 2015. Over two days, French distributors and American studios present their line-ups to French exhibitors, with extracts from upcoming films. Some features are also screened in full as exclusives. In 2023 there was an extra session in Cannes.

The 10th edition, in January 2024, was held at the Grand Rex in Paris in partnership with the CNC, with Apollo, SND, Universal, Pan Distribution, Pathé, Warner Bros. and Gaumont presenting. The 11th edition ran on 28–29 January 2026, again at the Grand Rex. A sponsor's announcement described several hundred cinema operators from across France attending each year.

It is aimed at French exhibitors who want to see the year's releases from the major French and US distributors in one sitting, early in the year. Suppliers also attend and sponsor; projection and cinema-services companies have used it to meet operators.

It is a French-market event. For operators outside France, CineEurope covers the same studios with a European focus.

Le Film Français has announced Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 January 2027 for the next edition. The venue had not been stated in the announcement as of 20 October 2026; the last editions were at the Grand Rex in Paris.
