EDCF Global Cinema Seminar at IBC

The EDCF events page lists the Global Cinema Seminar at IBC 2027 at the RAI in Amsterdam. IBC 2027 runs 10–13 September, and the EDCF has not yet given the seminar date. The seminar sits inside IBC, so check IBC's own pass options before you travel.

For a fuller technical meeting, the EDCF Conference 2027 is in Prague. It opens at 13:00 on Tuesday 2 March at Cinema City Slovanský dům, a multiplex in a Neoclassical palace. It moves on Wednesday 3 March to Kino Lucerna, which the EDCF calls Bohemia's oldest permanent cinema, and closes at 14:00. The EDCF says about 150 professionals attend its annual conference. It has not yet published fees or a registration link and says details will follow. Ask at admin@edcf.net in the meantime.

The EDCF also runs a Los Angeles studio tour on 8–9 April 2027, and a problem-solving session during CineEurope (21–24 June 2027).

The European Digital Cinema Forum is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organisation funded by subscribing members — equipment makers, distributors, national film institutes and cinema circuits. Its Global Cinema Seminar is held during the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) at the RAI in Amsterdam.

The most recent edition took place on 13 September 2026. According to UNIC's report, sessions covered new premium certifications and premium large formats, the laser transition, 70mm projection, EDCF's new standard and operator guidelines for live events, ISDCF updates from the US, EU legislation affecting cinema operations, and AI in production.

This is a technical event. It suits chief projectionists, technical directors and anyone responsible for booth equipment, DCP handling or live-event screenings. Programmers and marketers will get less from it, although the 70mm and premium-format sessions increasingly touch on marketing.

Dates for the 2027 seminar had not been announced as of 26 September 2026. EDCF's separate annual conference is scheduled for 2–3 March 2027 in Prague.
