One convention instead of two
CineHamburg replaced two older German events: the Filmtheaterkongress KINO and Filmtage Köln. It is a joint project of HDF KINO, the German exhibitors' association, and AllScreens, the distributors' association. The legal organiser is Zukunft Kino Marketing GmbH, with hdfstudio and Opus Mediengruppe running the event.
The first edition ran 7–10 July 2026 at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) and the nearby CinemaxX Dammtor. The organisers reported about 1,700 participants and more than 70 exhibitors.
What happens there
The event has three parts. At the CinemaxX Dammtor, major and independent distributors show their most important films of the coming year in trade shows and screenings, mornings and evenings on all four days. In the CCH there is a trade fair, which the organisers call the largest cinema trade fair in the German-speaking region, with technology makers, architects and designers, food and drink suppliers and start-ups. Alongside both runs a congress of panels on cinema policy and the business, plus a practical workshop programme for operators and distributor staff covering programming, technology and audience development.
Is it worth going?
For a German cinema it is now the main summer meeting of the trade, combining slates, suppliers and training in one trip. The organisers point out that the fair is particularly useful for small and mid-sized operators who want to see equipment and services in person. For operators outside Germany, the content is German-language and German-market; CineEurope in June is the international alternative.
The 2027 edition is set for 13–16 July in Hamburg. Ticket prices and the 2027 programme had not been published as of 20 October 2026.
