Bio Bristol is run by an association showing quality film in a cinema that opened on 1 January 1939 and was brought back into full operation in autumn 2020. There is no circuit behind it and no IT department.

That is a useful test of a platform, because the requirements are the inverse of a national chain's. Nothing can require a specialist to operate. The programme has to be maintainable by whoever is available. And the cost has to make sense against an admissions base measured in thousands rather than millions — which is the reason most cinemas this size end up on a free template with no real ticketing, or on a system designed for a multiplex and priced like one.
