Cinema projector manufacturers
The companies that make the light. A shrinking field, now almost entirely laser, and the single largest capital line in any auditorium.
Cinema projection has consolidated hard. Where there were once many manufacturers there are now effectively three at volume, and the xenon lamp era is ending — laser illumination has moved from premium option to default, which changes the economics: higher capital cost, far lower running cost, and no lamp changes.
The practical consequence for an exhibitor is that a projector decision is now a ten-year decision rather than a five-year one, and the service relationship matters as much as the specification. Most cinemas buy through an integrator rather than direct.
