In practice that category exists because box office systems are built to transact rather than to explain: they will tell you what sold, and they are much weaker at telling you what it means.

The questions an analytics layer is bought to answer are the ones a ticketing report does not: which sessions consistently lose money, how occupancy varies by daypart rather than in aggregate, whether a title underperformed against its market, and which customers are actually repeat visitors.

The category note worth making is that analytics is only as good as the data it sits on. If sessions, pricing and customer records live in three systems that do not reconcile, no reporting layer will fix that — which is an argument about architecture rather than about vendors.
